Visual Art Module

The Visual Arts Module is the third core component of the Listen Up! program. It invites young people to explore the program theme through diverse visual arts mediums that are determined by the visual arts mentor.

Examples of past Listen Up! visual arts work as included:

  • Mask making

  • Print making

  • Banners

  • Mandalas

  • Mosaics

Students work with the visual arts mentor from up to 6 sessions and may use various forms of arts techniques to create their own work. The music and poetry created earlier in the program may be used to inspire the visual arts work. The visual arts mentor structures the sessions leading to the creation of an installation that is shared as part of the culminating community concert.

The visual arts work can also be integrated into the actual performance in such forms as backdrops, banners, puppets etc.
